I.T Target Operating Model

BOSS Consulting was selected by an international nuclear company to review and re-imagine its I.T Target Operating Model, in other words the way in which I.T partners WITH the business to deliver I.T TO the business. Our approach focussed on covering how all elements of the I.T organisation (Infrastructure, Applications and New and Emerging Technologies) deliver the solutions that the business needs into all aspects of the business from back office to front, from sites to Head Office.

The output included a full set of operating processes, organisation role design and an assessment of existing contracts along with the migration path to the new operating model and service offering. Finally, we worked alongside the I.T Leadership to develop a business case and financial model of the preferred option compared to the existing operational model and supported the approval process with the Operating Board.

Defence Industry – One of the first full suite S/4 Hana implementations

BOSS programme team were engaged by a leading global defence business to deliver strategic and business change through the deployment of SAP S4/HANA, Fiori, Mobile Apps, BPC and M.S. Dynamics CRM. The objective was to deliver simplification, standardisation and business mobility by implementing a common operating model underpinned by a common platform; this replaced the existing disparate and ageing I.T. landscape.

BOSS Consulting was initially engaged to turnaround a programme that was at risk of not achieving its objectives and benefits. The programme team immediately established a clear governance and programme structure, strong commercial management and short interval controls resulting in the successful implementation of the first phase of the programme within six months. Subsequently, the team managed an S4/HANA upgrade and two further deployments which enabled business process standardisation, resource planning and reporting through the harmonised I.T. landscape.

During the programme our team also lead a vendor selection process; This culminated in a transition to a new systems integrator post the initial release which enabled better planning and a more positive business case. This was approved by the Board.

Services Industry – One of the Largest Microsoft implementation in Europe

BOSS programme team were engaged by a leading services business to select and deliver strategic and business change through the deployment of an ERP system. The objective was to deliver simplification and standardisation across a common operating model.

Initially engaged in running the software and services selection process in tandem, the team led the selection of Microsoft Dynamics and the System Integrator. Once the decision had made, the team established the programme structure, controls and reporting taking into account the predominantly agile delivery approach.

Half way through implementation, the team had to incorporate a merger where both parties were implementing Microsoft Dynamics. The team had to manage the expanded landscape and additional challenges of migrating two companies together that were both on different journeys, albeit within the Dynamics landscape.

The first, second and third releases of the solution have all been delivered to the revised post-merger plan, and the final release was delivered in October 2019.
